Christmas is generally an unsuspectingly  an over spending period of the year that everyone seem to bow to when it comes. Parents, kids, family, friends come together to share happiness. So for the joy to be full, buying new things has always been a big part of the festive season.  Daddies has to buy things for the family, boyfriends has to surprise their 'baes' with gifts and girlfriends also has to buy gifts for their boyfriends (that is if girls buy gift for their boyfriends in your country), friends and families has to exchange presents. Not forgetting most importantly the irreplaceable Christmas rice and chicken( this one is a MUST in this part of the world where i come from. If you like don't even buy any other thing, but this adorable  combination(of rice and stew and chicken) must be provided, it is a must, without it, that Christmas is never complete. With the thought of this running to and fro your mind, one is already beginning to reflect on those expenses lurking and  already Christmas breeze is  almost here, It is very important that some knowledgeable steps be taken as regards HOW TO SPEND DURING CHRISTMAS. It is very needful. Some people go practically broke in January after heavy December spending. And you'd agree that that's a very bad way of starting a new year. Trust that. You don't wanno start your new year broke like that. So we've got a few SAFE BUY GUIDES for you. They will help you.
1. Restructure your mind: Nothing can really change without a change in the mind. There's a popular saying"what affect the eyes affect the nose" what goes around in the mind scales your actions and inactions. You've grown up with the " Christmas overspending" mindset- the same mindset i grew up with. Blame it on whoever brought that lame idea. But actually, no. Christmas doesn't necessarily demand over expense. We brought ourselves into it. We can as well usher ourselves out if determined. I have already and that's why I'm extending hands of fellowship here. Just get it right in your mind that yes I will buy (but not a must) and i must not think of buying the WHOLE MALL (except ONLY if of course that's going to be a new business line) but if not, the idea is about just going there to pick some few things.
2. Stop thinking of buying to impress. If you always think of buying to impress, you're going to buy into depression. Stop it. It's unhealthy. You can only buy happiness, you can't buy joy.
3. Do not think UNTIL it's new, it is not. It mustn't be new. Always remember you still bought the ones you today look at as old, and the new ones you might buy today will tomorrow become old as well. So also think of the old ones too.
4. Budget: Everything to be said about budgeting has been said but just because someone wasn't listening, lemme stress on it again. Budget answers questions like " how much do I have?, how much do I need, how much should I spend, how many things am i to buy?, how many of the things that I want to buy do i really need?, for how many people?, what type of the things that I want to buy do I want?, is it the fake, the original, the cheap, the average or the most expensive?. And finally( which is the determinant factor) HOW MUCH CAN I AFFORD.

Budgeting is that important that if you neglect it, you buy fowl. Next time spending need arises, remember to try answering these questions. You'll hit the G spot with that.
5. Buy original/buy in badge: Original and badge( bulk) things costs a little more and yes we are aware. Fake and retailed things are cheaper and yes we understand. Nobody wouldn't want to save some change by buying cheap. But no. Buying cheap compels you to buy again within a shorter period and it in turn makes you spend more. But original/bulk purchase saves you a lot of money (you might not know).
What I mean is that you actually saves more buy buying in bulk/ original. So next time you go to buy, consider buying in the range of at least half a dozen of things or altleast not less than three (if you can't afford full bag/pack or dozen). Things like toiletries, clothings, food items etc. This is most applicable especially if you are a family person (surrounded by many people or even if you are still single but you want new ways to save). You can only imagine what you might have saved yourself doing that. And for things like recharge card, avoid a hundred naira recharge, go for nothing less than 300-500 hundred (NGN) if you can't afford more and for internet subscription (if you are a browser like me) DO NOT indulge in daily subscriptions, you will be a looser in the hands of your network providers. Go for weekly or monthly subscriptions.( with that you get value for your money).
